Le Point

IMG_8996At the risk of sounding cheesy, Pauline Montupet’s new store in the Mission, LePoint, is totally on point. A native New Yorker, Pauline moved to San Francisco 8 years ago and with her she brought a style that mimics the Scandinavian street style shots I am often perusing online. IMG_9214The open, airy space brings a breath of fresh air to the rapidly developing streets of the Mission. A former stylist, Pauline curated the store to house labels that she found hard to find when styling her clients: YMA, Bella Freud, Tanya Taylor (to name a few). She even has stuff for the boys and plans to expand the men’s collection later this summer.IMG_9210The store officially opens this Thursday and already has generated quite a following. Not surprising considering every time I walk in the store I find myself planning a trip around each garment that I try on. I look forward to my next visit to see what additions the store has for my wardrobe. IMG_9204                                   Le Point . 301 Valencia Street . San Francisco, CA

Fur-ever

My love of fur dates back to the first time I visited family in Argentina when I was 10. Exploring Buenos Aires was like walking through a museum, one beautiful muse after another passing me in the street. It was wintertime and I was sitting inside a restaurant in Recoleta with my eyes glued to the street; women with classic style wrapped themselves in fur to bare the chilly weather. I knew then I wanted my personal style to have function (keeping myself warm) and still maintain an air of luxury and glamour. Two words you rarely hear when paired with function. IMG_9079

When I was packing to move to Miami it occurred to me that my years of collecting sweaters, coats, and fur was not going to assist in my ever-evolving personal style. How was I going to incorporate my love of fur into a wardrobe that contained mostly resort wear? The answer was simple- fur vests, clutches, and scarves. I decided to forget the fashion rules and began incorporating small touches of fur into my resort wear look. Fur would no longer have to be packed away during the arrival of spring.IMG_9100

It is has become common practice when traveling to pack a fur vest as my layering piece; this trip was no different. My Elizabeth & James vest was the perfect accent to my Zara paisley dress, Marc Jacobs purse, Jeffrey Campbell gladiators, and Givenchy cuff.

It was simply a matter of time before we would start to see designers incorporating fur into their spring/ summer collections. A few years ago when I launched a collection of fur cuffs I was thrilled that we were evolving from a basic brown mink to a color collection that mimicked the colors you could find in a box of crayons. So you can imagine my enthusiasm when I saw the SS15 collections…
