After spending the afternoon looking through the amazing collection of brands Christine and her business partner have filled the store with (including Pacific Gypsea) we headed over to Bar Bocci for some delicious pizza and Arnold Palmers while watching a competitive game of bocci ball with a pretty epic view. Of course, a trip to Sausalito is also not complete without a stop at the Trident to have a drink at Janis Joplin’s booth. I am really looking forward to the official opening of Klozet as it is sure to provide endless options of new pieces whenever I am staying at my Dad’s in San Francisco and need a little retail therapy over the bridge.
This morning after finishing up some work, I threw on a simple gray jersey dress with my riding boots (which come in very handy when roaming the beautiful 65 acres of the ranch) and got in the car to drive to my Stepmom’s very quiet and peaceful birthday celebration at their ranch. As everyone is taking siestas and waiting for it to cool down before we head out to hike around the property I am quickly writing a post as I am sure to do a few photoshoots the next couple days. This is exactly what I needed after a crazy month, a peaceful break in a country setting. A few relaxing days and then back to the coast for what should be another crazy month (in a great way) of course. New clients, traveling… I am really looking forward to this summer.

Bring Out The Coats

There are so many reasons to love fall, the leaves changing color, the start to the holiday season, and my annual tradition of bringing out my coats and reintroducing them into my wardrobe. Trench, Anorak, Duster, Chesterfield, Bolero, the possibilities for lengths and shapes of coats and jackets are endless, which may make buying a coat a bit challenging. A few tips and tricks I give my clients when transitioning their wardrobes from summer to fall:

What is it about Beverley Hills that makes every girl feel like they are experiencing some sort of Pretty Woman moment? While my days have not been filled with bubble baths and Richard Gere seems to be nowhere present, shopping in la la land for a client has me dreaming of khaki silk short suits and thigh high boots. Not to be worn together…

Volume was a huge trend (pun intended) at NYFW and luckily I packed an easy a-line dress to keep me comfortable during my hunt for the perfect pieces today. I will happily be injecting volume into mine and my clients wardrobes for SS16 as I definitely got my fix of bodycon dresses living in Miami!

Jersey By The Shore

IMG_0006I spent most of my 20’s unfazed by the concept of comfort in my wardrobe. After all, hangovers were non-existent and sleep was not a requirement for functioning. Who needed comfort?

My 30’s have been a different story; there is a look that I like to think of as casual luxury that seems to be more fitting for my pretty much daily routine of hunting for seashells and meetings with clients. Jersey dresses will always be a staple in my closet as the casual material in feminine shapes easily takes me through my day. It also provides a clean backdrop to my vintage Argentine belt, Ralph Lauren sandals, and Antik Batik bag. IMG_0074One of my favorite labels for luxurious basics, like my dress, is Parisian brand Zoe Tee’s. Each one of their pieces has the laid back look French women have mastered and I admire.

Back Roads

IMG_9588Today I was scouting for locations through the back roads of Pacific Grove. Each corner more magnificent than the next, I had to take part of my adventure on foot in my Prada suede booties and backless H&M dress. IMG_9616

Almost every surface of this beach town is covered in elements that highlight the marriage of the forest and the ocean. Beach cottages surrounded by pine and eucalyptus trees, deer grazing through sand dunes, and that mystical California summer fog- it’s no surprise monarch butterflies choose to migrate here every year. IMG_9640   IMG_9642  IMG_9651Backless dresses have become quite an obsession of mine; there is something sexy about the surprise of an unexpected cutout. Season after season we have seen backless dresses add a bit of femme fatal to otherwise simple shapes- this season of course being no different.

Hello Sailor & Gucci

IMG_9423It’s been a wild week; starting with designing a storefront, leading into half decorating my new little beach bungalow, and ending with a three day trunk show. I was pleased the general hue of the day was grey as it only prompted me to wrap myself in a cashmere cocoon and lay in bed with a glass of wine as I write this evening. Not surprising, as I tend to lean towards my MeMoi cashmere tights on days like today. For my new life by the sea and a very busy sceadule, I decided to channel my inner Parisian and go with an American Apparel stripped boat neck and black blazer today. The cut offs paired with the tights and Chloé boots was the perfect juxtaposition to mimic my week of being in an office near the beach. I couldn’t help but sneak in a brief moment of listening to the waves crash before retreating this evening. I can’t wait to start exploring this little beach town next week.

Annie Get Your Gun

It seemed like fate that gingham just happened to be one of this seasons biggest trends. It makes life easier when fashion mimics your environment. Gingham is todays adaptation to my wardrobe for my day in the country. After all, if Brigitte Bardot wore a gingham dress on her wedding day I could definitely incorporate it into my look.

I paired my gingham J. Crew popover with a skirt by Proenza Schouler, J. Crew beaded stacked heels, and a vintage necklace. There is a certain confident feeling I get when I mix two patterns; in this case gingham and stripes. It is walking out the door with a guarantee that no one will be wearing the same outfit as you… think back to Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh and the infamous prom dress. My nightmare.

My return to the ranch is bittersweet today, it will be the last day of my country sabbatical. However, I am excited to start working with the very talented Ashley Yeates in Carmel next month.  One last night of wrapping myself in cashmere and sitting by the outdoor fireplace before I hunt for the perfect beach bungalow. Cue Wilco & Billy Braggs Califonia Stars.

Le Point

IMG_8996At the risk of sounding cheesy, Pauline Montupet’s new store in the Mission, LePoint, is totally on point. A native New Yorker, Pauline moved to San Francisco 8 years ago and with her she brought a style that mimics the Scandinavian street style shots I am often perusing online. IMG_9214The open, airy space brings a breath of fresh air to the rapidly developing streets of the Mission. A former stylist, Pauline curated the store to house labels that she found hard to find when styling her clients: YMA, Bella Freud, Tanya Taylor (to name a few). She even has stuff for the boys and plans to expand the men’s collection later this summer.IMG_9210The store officially opens this Thursday and already has generated quite a following. Not surprising considering every time I walk in the store I find myself planning a trip around each garment that I try on. I look forward to my next visit to see what additions the store has for my wardrobe. IMG_9204                                   Le Point . 301 Valencia Street . San Francisco, CA
