No matter what city I have lived in, I have always enjoyed perusing farmers markets and picking up fresh ingredients to inspire my meals. When I lived in Miami it was as simple as throwing on your cover up or sun dress and heading to Lincoln Road for the tropical fruits I lived on for 3 years. The Central Coast of California, even during it’s summer months is a tease for someone who actually finds throwing on a dress a quick way to look and feel chic. Thanks to unconventional layering and Instagram trend setters, denim under a dress is not only a solution to my problem of layering to stay warm, but giving some old summer favorites a fresh new look.
I would opt for a dress with a pretty high hemline when pairing a dress with denim, as the goal is not to look like you are actually adding extra layers but giving your look a more casual day touch. And thanks to Jane Birkin, no trip to the farmers market is complete without some sort of woven basket to hold all your local goodies. It is practically impossible to make it home without stoping at the park for strawberries or under a veranda with an ocean view for figs and a large basket just makes life a little more romantic.
