Choosing a leather jacket is a purchase that should take a lot of thought. After all, it is only a lucky few that can have multiple options of shapes of leather coats. First question to ask yourself is, what is it that you like to wear the most? Sweaters, maxi dresses, jeans… this will help narrow down what you will probably get the most use out of style wise. And let’s face it, most leather jackets are not on the inexpensive side; unless you enjoy the thrill of a fashion treasure hunt like myself. A cropped leather jacket is perfect over any long dress, no matter what the occasion and pairs great with a jumpsuit, but under a chunky knit- not so much. If you are more of a denim girl, a modernized take on a biker jacket would probably suit your closet and looks you tend to lean towards better than a leather blazer per say.
Second thing to take into consideration is your climate. If you live in New York, invest in a leather jacket lined with shearling. This will offer you use during the cold winter months and a sexy cover up over a dress on spring evenings. If you live in LA, the last thing you want is to purchase a leather jacket you will sweat in, and possibly get stuck in.
This leads into the third most important factor when living in leather. Never buy anything leather too small, not only is the pulling on the back of a jacket am awful look, but you should be able to move freely and without making an awkward noise every time you attempt to lift your arm to hail a cab. Once you do find your perfect fitting leather dream jacket you will find yourself wanting to live in it and in my opinion a woman in leather is sexy, confident, and strong. Sorry PETA.
